UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica Police have charged four individuals after officers say they found a loaded handgun and drugs in their vehicle during a traffic stop.
Around 9 p.m. Wednesday night, police were on City Street, in Utica, when they pulled over a vehicle for a number of traffic violations.
Officers say they found cause to search the vehicle and located a loaded 9mm handgun in the center console of the vehicle, and marijuana.
Police arrested Tawisha Pearson, 18, of Utica on weapons charges. Robert Collins, 25, of Utica was arrested on marijuana and weapons charges. Quino Mason, 25, of Hopelawn, N.J., and Sean Clarke of Perth Amboy, N.J. face a number of firearm and marijuana offenses.
A special unit of patrol officers was formed to investigate a number of shots-fired calls around the city over the past few weeks. Some victims were wounded in those incidents.
