NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (UPDATED) – A Utica man was shot twice in the leg during what police believe was a drive-by shooting in New York Mills Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the scene at 587 Main St. around 6:30 a.m. after a report of shots fired in the Fitness Mill parking lot.

The victim, 35-year-old Tristan Short, was shot while walking to his car.
"It appears as though it may have been a drive-by type situation, however…it appears as though the victim might have been targeted,” said Chief Robert Frankland.
Police say there is no threat to the community.
The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
Short’s injuries are not life threatening, and he is currently in stable condition, according to police.
Anyone with information should call the police at 315-736-6623.
