NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Carl’s Wholesale Furniture Warehouse has reported four missing catalytic converters recently, stolen from company trucks at its location in the New Hartford Shopping Center.
The furniture store has been renting trucks to make deliveries, because the company trucks are extremely loud without the converters.
These valuable vehicle parts are often stolen because they are typically made from precious metals, including platinum.
Assistant Manager Mark Schwenk says the store has put in cameras as a precaution, and is offering a reward for information leading to the culprits.
“We do have night vision cameras installed now so we got an eye on everything. Hopefully this isn't going to happen again. It's upsetting,” he said. “Carl's is offering $500 cash reward. Anybody with any information that leads police to an arrest on this, you get 500 bucks. We want to catch these guys.”
Anyone with information on the thefts should call New Hartford police at 315-724-7111.
