UTICA – In honor of Polish-American Heritage Month, the Polish community gathered on the Memorial Parkway Sunday for a special dedication ceremony to military general, Casimir Pulaski.
A wreath was placed at the statue of Pulaski, which was placed on the parkway to honor the war hero.
The ceremony is held annually, featuring speakers and community members who come to show pride in their Polish heritage.
“I think its common knowledge by now, but the polish people are a very proud people. Proud of their heritage and proud of their contributions to the united states. Along with bringing those values from their home country, they also embrace the values here in the united states," said Richard Noga, who spoke at the event.
October is Polish-American Heritage Month, and the Polish Community Club of Utica kicked off their celebration with a flag raising at Utica City Hall on Friday.
