WHITESTOWN, N.Y. (UPDATED) – Three people ended up in the hospital Friday afternoon after a two-car accident on Judd Road just before 3:30 p.m.
Authorities closed Judd Road between Cider Street and Lovers Lane during the investigation.
Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says Steven Laubenheimer, 43, of Oriskany, was driving westbound on Judd Road and failed to yield to the right of way before trying to turn left into a driveway.
While he was trying to turn, Laubenheimer’s car was hit by a truck towing a trailer and excavator. The truck was driven by 46-year-old Robert Kryczkowski of Whitesboro.
The initial collision caused heavy damage, and Laubenheimer’s car continued off of the shoulder into the ditch.
The excavator also detached from Kryczkowski’s truck due to the impact.
Laubenheimer and his passenger Valerie Laubenheimer, 47, were both taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to be evaluated for head, neck and back injuries.
Kryczkowski was also taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for an evaluation.
Laubenheimer was issued a citation returnable to Town of Whitestown court at a later date.
Judd Road is back open in both directions.
