VERNON N.Y. (UPDATED) – A portion of Route 26 was closed for nearly four hours in the Town of Vernon after a fatal motorcycle crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
New York State Police say a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by 23-year-old Kristina Thorick of Binghamton, was making a left turn into a driveway on Route 26 when she failed to yield right of way to a motorcycle operated by 76-year-old James Flynn of Fort Plain.
Flynn was unable to avoid the collision, and was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to Oneida Healthcare Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Thorick and her 18-year-old passenger were uninjured. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
