PUNXSUTAWNEY, PENNSYLVANIA – It's six more weeks of winter! Punxsutawney Phil crawled out of his stump this Groundhog Day morning and he saw his shadow.
If the groundhog sees his shadow, legend has it there will be six more weeks of winter. This is the 132nd year celebrating Groundhog Day.
Each year on Feb. 2, we wait for Punxsutawney Phil to wake up from hibernation to find out if there will be an early spring or if winter will continue. More than a dozen states also take part in the tradition with their own groundhogs.
It's safe to say you're going to want to keep your winter coat on hand for another six weeks.
