Two animals in Oneida County have tested positive for rabies, according to the county health department.
A raccoon found in Kirkland and a bat found in Rome were both sent to the Wadsworth Center laboratory for testing on Tuesday. Both came back positive for rabies on Wednesday.
The health department says a cat was exposed to the bat, and received a booster shot.
People are reminded to avoid animals that appear to be rabid, and keep up with pet vaccinations.
