LEE, N.Y. – A fox found in the town of Lee tested positive for rabies, according to the New York State Health Department.
One person was exposed to the animal, but was treated afterward.
The animal was sent to the Wadsworth Center in Albany on June 22, and the positive results were reported on June 24.
The health department reminds people that signs of rabies include:
- Animal acting strangely, either mad or shy
- Animal getting unusually close
- Drooling or foaming from the mouth
Anyone who encounters an animal showing signs of rabies is advised to stay away and call animal control.
