A dog is in quarantine for six months, after an encounter with a rabid skunk in Deerfield.

That means a double enclosure, and only one adult in the house can let the dog out and have contact with it. The best advice to protect your pet: make sure their rabies vaccines are up to date....don't feed them outside, and if they spent lots of time outside, check them often.

Oneida County Health Officials are hopeful this dog will be ok.

Here is a list of locations to get rabies shots.

4/9: Camden Firehouse, 5-7pm

5/10: Clark Mills Firehouse, 6-8pm

6/12: Boonville Fairgrounds, 6-8pm

7/12: Rome Kennedy Arena, 6-8pm

8/6: Vienna Highway Garage, 5-7pm
