ROME, N.Y. -Henderberg Christmas tree farm in Rome has plenty of trees and are already busy helping people find the perfect tree for there home. With sizes up to 15 feet tall, their Christmas trees and Christmas wreaths have won various awards in the New York State Fair, Christmas Tree Farmers' Association of NY competitions, and even nationally.
Henderberg Christmas Tree Farm doesn't just specialize in regular Christmas trees. They also specialize for the past 2 years in colored Christmas trees like the purple one behind me. Sadly they won't be able to make as many this year and the reason why has to do with the weather.
"Well the trees are really weather permitting. They have to be dry, then you need a day to spray them, and then they need time to let them dry. So you really need three days of nice weather and this fall didn't really allow for that. It rained nearly every other day so it made it very difficult for us," said Sherri Card, a wreath maker and decorator for the tree farm
These trees were so popular last year that people stole them but this year security precautions were taken to prevent that from happening again.
Sherri said, "We got a storage trailer. So on Thanksgiving we went out, cut them all, and put them in a locked storage trailer, for those that were ordered so we didn't have to worry about anyone who ordered a tree have their order come up missing."
That being said if you want to get one you might want to consider going sooner rather later before they are all gone.
