ROME – Lights, camera, action! Students at a local elementary school were walking the red carpet Tuesday morning to celebrate their positive contributions to the school.
The annual event at Denti Elementary School is a way to shine the spotlight on good character. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade put on their best glitz and glam and accepted their awards, then posed for a photo.
A total of 21 students were chosen throughout the school year for going above and beyond the reading, writing and arithmetic of learning.
“We need kids to have that good character so classrooms run smoothly, it just sets them up to be great adults when they’re older and we want to make sure that we’re celebrating that just as much as if they do well on a math test," said Nicole Cary, a fourth grade teacher at Denti Elementary.
This is the third year that Denti Elementary School has put on its red carpet event celebrating students for their character.
