NEW YORK STATE -- Congressman Antonio Delgado (NY-19), along with Philadelphia Congressman John Joyce introduced new legislation to provide tax relief for self-employed business owners.
It's called the Tax Fairness for the Self-Employed Act.
The bill would allow over 1.7 million self-employed people throughout New York, to deduct their health care premiums as a business deduction, saving them nearly $750 a year.
In a statement, Congressman Delgado explains how this could help out families across the state.
"Small businesses and self-employed owners are paying too much in taxes. Many family farmers are self-employed owners and during this down farm economy, our out-of-date tax code leaves farmers and self-employed business owners behind by failing to allow them to deduct health insurance premiums as a business expense."
