UTICA, N.Y. -- There is a Republican candidate in the Utica mayoral race. While the Democratic primary for the Utica mayor's race has made headlines lately, there is a Republican candidate in the race.

Councilman Joe Marino is challenging incumbent Robert Palmieri in the Democratic primary. The winner of the June race will take on Republican Matt Arcuri in November.

Arcuri works for the Utica City School District.

His campaign manager says he will not be campaigning until after the Democratic primary. WKTV has not been able to speak with Arcuri personally.

Editor's Correction: In our original story, WKTV reported that there was was no Republican candidate, but that was inaccurate.
