UPDATE: Issue with 911 dialing resolved

Herkimer or Oneida county residents that use the Windstream Telephone 315-822 exchange may not be able to reach 911 due to a service issue.

Herkimer and Oneida county residents that use the Windstream Telephone 315-822 exchange for landlines were not be able to reach 911 Tuesday, but the issue has been resolved according to Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente.

Windstream Telephone was having a service issue, which affected residents using the provider.

Windstream landline phones in the 822 exchange (Bridgewater) cannot dial 911. Windstream and Verizon are working on the problem. Callers should call 315-736-0141 in an emergency.
