ROME, N.Y. – A fire broke out at Bloomfield Gardens in Rome Thursday morning, in the kitchen of one of the apartments.
Fire crews were called to the scene around 9:45 a.m.
The flames were contained to one apartment, but the neighboring unit and an upstairs apartment suffered smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.
Fire officials say no one was in the apartment where the fire started, but the resident who lives there and the occupants of the two neighboring apartments have been temporarily displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting these residents.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
