Local attorney Jessica Reynolds-Amuso on Thursday announced her candidacy for the Oneida County Family Court judge race in the fall.
Reynolds-Amuso will be running for the position currently held by Judge James Griffith, who has served in the position since 1999. The position is based in the Oneida County Courthouse in Rome.
Reynolds-Amuso is a partner at the Reynolds-Amuso & Amuso law offices in Clinton, and she currently lives in Clinton with her husband and three kids. She’s a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and Albany Law School, and she’s been practicing law for 20 years, with 16 of those focusing on Family Court.
“I have represented thousands of children, parents, grandparents, and other good people in the many cases brought to Family Court,” Reynolds-Amuso said in a news release. “I have spent the time talking to the families affected by these issues in my efforts to find solutions that are tailored for each family, and that address their needs effectively and efficiently. This is the work that I wholeheartedly embrace every day, because I want to be a part of finding the best results for families and our community, and this is the experience that I will bring to the bench.”
Judge Griffith confirmed to NEWSChannel 2 on Thursday that he is planning to seek re-election, and he plans to make a formal announcement soon.
