ROME, N.Y. - According to Oneida County Sheriffs Office, a man was arrested Thursday morning after an investigation into a Domestic Dispute in the City of Rome.

Sheriffs Deputies responded to an anonymous tip for a welfare check of a 56 year old woman on Taberg Road, Rome. Upon investigating the tip, Sheriff's Deputies learned that the woman had been assaulted by her live-in boyfriend Richard Jones, 48. The physical altercation took place in a vehicle as the couple were driving back to their home from a bar in the City of Rome on the prior night.

The incident was never reported to the police until the anonymous tip was received the next morning. The woman was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for her injuries.

Jones was arrested at the home and charged with Third degree Assault and Second degree Harassment. He was sent to the Oneida County Jail's Centralized Arraignment to be seen by a judge. The case is still open as more charges may be pending or upgraded, pending further investigation.
