ROME, N.Y. – A man was shot in the leg outside of the Byrne Dairy in Rome Wednesday night, according to Rome police.
Officers responded to a shots-fired call at the gas station around 11 p.m., where they found the man suffering from one gunshot wound to the leg. Police say he was shot with a handgun by a white man near the Canal Street entrance. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is not yet in custody, but police say the incident was not random, and they have no reason to believe the public is in any danger.
