ROME, N.Y.-- Easter Sunday is three weeks away and the Rome Rescue Mission is in need of donations in order to provide meals for the hundreds they serve each and every year.
Easter for us it's the most important holiday of the year," said Matt Miller, executive director of the Rome Rescue Mission. "We have a beautiful traditional ham dinner. We do a lot of deliveries and to-go meals and things of that nature. We have a great Easter egg hunt at on the side yard here and so it's a really good day of celebration and fun."
Miller said the mission is in need of food or monetary donations to help prepare meals for the celebration. This year he is expecting to serve even more people.
"The needs seems to be getting bigger and we just want to make sure that people are provided a really nice meal and the holidays," he said. "We plan on serving at least 400 people and that includes some of the to-go's that we do and the deliveries. There's a lot of people that are shut-in and they don't have the ability to come here and we really encourage people to give us a call and we will get it meal to anyone who is in need. People can call right up until Easter morning I'll make sure they get a meal."
The mission is located on 413 East Dominick St. in Rome.
