ROME, N.Y. -- The Salvation Army in Rome is ringing bells for 24-hours straight.
Captain Alan Kreuger will be the perpetual bell ringer starting Friday at 6 p.m., at the Rome Walmart.
During Krueger’s 24-hour shift, donations made to the kettle at Walmart or his virtual kettle online (or text “romekettle” to 41444) will be matched.
Several 'celebrity' bell ringers will be giving the captain a hand during that 24-hour period, including Senator Joe Griffo, Mayor Jacqueling Izzo, and our own Katrina Smith.
Assisting Captain Kreuger throughout the night will be several of The Salvation Army of Rome advisory board members along with several local, celebrity bell ringers:
•Peter Blake, Rome Superintendent of Schools
•Ron Brement, Rome Fire Chief
•Katrina Smith, WKTV Anchor
•Anthony Brindisi, Congressman-Elect
• Joe Griffo, State Senator
•Jacqueline Izzo, Mayor of Rome
•Stephanie Viscelli, Rome Common Council President
