ROME – Members of the Rome Fire Department International Association of Fire Fighters Local 694 took to the streets to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
The firefighters were out at the corner of James and Liberty streets starting at 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, for the MDA’s Fill the Boot campaign. The firefighters were greeting those passing the intersection and asking for donations to support MDA.
Funds raised through 2019 Rome Fill the Boot event will also go toward research, support groups and the local care center at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. The money also helps send local kids to the MDA Summer Camp at the Rotary Sunshine Campus in Rush, N.Y., free of cost.
