ROME, N.Y. – A Rome man is accused of having sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl for months, according to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
Anthony J. Melise, 37, allegedly had sexual contact with the child over a period of time in the spring and early summer.
Melise is charged with first-degree criminal sexual act, a B felony.
He was arrested Friday and arraigned at Rome City Court. He is being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation started on Aug. 30, and is ongoing. More charges are expected.
The Child Advocacy Center has requested an order of protection for the young victim.
