MOHAWK, N.Y. – A Rome man is stable in a Syracuse hospital after crashing his motorcycle into another vehicle in Herkimer County over the weekend.
Mohawk police say 30-year-old James Jewett was speeding on Route 5S, and ran a red light while driving the wrong way in the eastbound lane. Jewett then hit a vehicle almost head-on near the Route 51 off-ramp. He was ejected from his motorcycle and sent to St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was later transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
No tickets have been issued at this time, but police are still investigating the crash.
