ROME, N.Y. -- Two motorcycles crashed in Rome overnight Wednesday on Rome-Taberg Road, leaving two critically injured.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Thurston Rudd, 48 of Rome, was on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with passenger, 30-year-old Kelly Sabia of Taberg, when they crashed with another bike. The other motorcycle, a Kawasaki, was driven by 40-year-old Peter Schipano of Rome.
Rudd was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition. Sabia and Schipano were both taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica and then transferred to a Syracuse hospital with critical injuries.
Route 69, on Rome-Taberg Road, was closed from Gore Road to Link Road for several hours Wednesday.
The crash is still under investigation, no tickets or arrests have been issued or made at this point.
