Rome murders featured on Investigation Discovery's 'The Lake Erie Murders'

A double homicide that took place in Rome more than 30 years ago was featured on the Investigation Discovery series ‘The Lake Erie Murders.’

ROME, N.Y. – A double homicide that took place in Rome more than 30 years ago was featured on the Investigation Discovery series ‘The Lake Erie Murders.’

The episode was about the murders of 33-year-old Anne Boncella and her 8-year-old daughter, Crystal Nadeau, on the day of the young girl’s first Communion.

Boncella’s fiancé found the two dead in their home on West Wright Street in 1987.

John Koberstein III was charged with the murders. He was 30 years old at the time.

Koberstein was also charged with killing Patricia Woodruff in 1988.

Prior to the arrest, there were two initial suspects. One was Boncella’s ex-husband and the other was a partner of one of her close friends.

Koberstein is serving three life terms in prison.
