UPDATE: Rome police arrest 'Warrant of the Week' suspect in Utica

Less than 24 hours after posting the latest "Warrant of the Week," Rome police say she has been arrested.

UPDATE: Rome police say 30-year-old Leslie Berneche, the latest "Warrant/Wanted Person of the Week," was located and arrested in Utica on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say after receiving several tips from the public regarding Berneche’s whereabouts, they developed an address on Erie Street in the city of Utica. In a joint effort by Rome and Utica police, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Task Force, Berneche was taken into police custody without incident.

Berneche was transported to the Rome Police Department where she was held for arraignment.

ROME – The Rome Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating a suspect for the latest “Wanted Person of the Week.”

Leslie Berneche, 30, is wanted on a warrant issued by Rome City Court for robbery and assault with the intent to cause injury. Police say the warrant was issued Sept. 2017 when Berneche failed to comply with court orders.

Berneche’s last known address was on South George Street in Rome. She’s described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds.
