ROME, N.Y. -- Father Paul Angelicchio has been named in a lawsuit accusing him of sexually abusing a teenage altar boy when the priest worked at a church in Onondaga County in the late 1980s, according to the Rome Sentinel.
He's the pastor of the Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist and Transfiguration on East Dominick Street in Rome.
NewsChannel 2 reported he was placed on a leave of absence by the Syracuse Diocese in 2016 to investigate the claims. Church officials then deemed the accusations were not credible and he returned to service.
The paper reports that a new lawsuit was filed February 14 hours after the "Child Victims Act" was signed into law in the Northern District of new York court.
The Syracuse Diocese, in December, released a list of 57 accused priests.
Angelicchio's name was not on that list.
