SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Poly make 'Best Regional Universities' rankings

SUNY Polytechnic Institute and SUNY Oneonta are in the top 10 New York public schools in the Northeast region according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2020 rankings of Best Colleges released Monday.

ONEONTA - SUNY Polytechnic Institute and SUNY Oneonta are in the top 10 New York public schools in the Northeast region according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2020 rankings of Best Colleges released Monday.

Among New York’s public universities in the region, SUNY Poly is ranked No. 1, while SUNY Oneonta is ranked No. 5, tied with SUNY Oswego. Overall, SUNY Poly was ranked No. 12, while Oneonta came in at No. 52.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the nation’s top institutions,” said SUNY Oneonta President Barbara Jean Morris. “These rankings and reviews affirm that SUNY Oneonta continues to provide our students with an excellent educational experience and the support they need to succeed.”

Eight other SUNY schools made the top 100 this year in the “Best Regional Universities—North” category, including:

No. 14 - SUNY Geneseo
No. 28 -SUNY New Paltz,
No. 52 - SUNY Oswego (tied with SUNY Oneonta)
No. 56 - SUNY Fredonia
No. 63 - SUNY Cortland and SUNY Plattsburgh (tie)
No. 66 - SUNY Potsdam
No. 88 – SUNY Brockport
