NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Sangertown Square officially reopened Friday after shutting down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that malls could open if the air filtration systems met state standards.
After the state gave the OK, Pyramid Management Group announced that its malls, including Sangertown and Destiny USA, would open July 10.
Sangertown is now open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, although not all stores inside the mall are prepared to open just yet.
David Etsen, owner of Rainbow Zen said one of the reasons some of the other stores could not open was, employees could not be brought back in time.
Despite some of the stores being closed, shoppers were thrilled to be back into the mall.
"It feels amazing and being able to walk around. Seeing things that obviously I haven't gotten to in a long time. It feels good," said Donald Bailey.
Stores open at this time include:
- American Eagle Outfitters
- Cooperstown Connection
- Game Craze
- Hannoush Jewelers
- Jimmy Jazz
- Kay Jewelers (curbside pickup only)

- Staff will use new electrostatic sprayers to disinfect all areas
