SAUQUOIT, NY - Earlier in the school year the Sauquoit Valley School District decided to suspend high-risk sports.
Now that decision is being revisited.
The school board discussed the possibility after the state said they would allow schools to participate in those sports.
No decision was made at Tuesday’s school board meeting, but board members say there are a number of factors to consider before any decision could be made.
Board member Todd Nelson says Sauquoit student-athletes deserve an answer
"I think our kids deserve that. I don’t think we can keep stringing them along. We need to make a decision. If we feel it’s safe and we feel we can we can do it appropriately then let’s move forward. If we can't do it safely and it’s not appropriate and that's our opinion on it, then that's fine. Let's move forward."
If a decision is made by the district to reinstate high-risk sports, board members say there is a possibility of moving some sports to different seasons to allow students to participate.
