SCHROON LAKE, N.Y. -- A fire ripped through a church in the North Country.
It happened a little after 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Main Street Community Church.
Schroon Lake’s "Post Star" is reporting devastating structural damage made to the church.
The fire was so bad, that crews had to shut down a section of Route 9 with neighboring businesses feeling the intense heat from the fire.
The fire even spread to the home next door, which was occupied by the church's pastor.
"The normal for this kind of building. They go up quick and there's a lot of fire fast,” said Chief Paul McCann.
"Right now I feel like a sense of relief now that we've had this service that things are going to be okay,” said Erin Donaldson, a church member:
"I'm not going anywhere because my heart beats with yours,” said Schroon Lake Community Church Pastor Lynnette Cole.
The Schroon Lake Community Church will have to be demolished and is being called a total loss.
There are no reports of any injuries from the fire.
The exact cause of this is under investigation.
