SCHUYLER, N.Y. – The Schuyler fire chief says a family of four has been displaced after a house on Route 5 caught fire around noon on Tuesday.
Fire crews had to shut down part of Route 5 as they battled the house fire at 3788 Route 5, near Watkins Road. The two people in the home at the time made it out safely while firefighters worked to put out the flames.

The two children who also live at the home were in school at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
