Search for missing person comes to a sad end in Rome

The search for a missing person ended Sunday morning with the person's body being discovered in the Mohawk River.

Rome, N.Y. - Oneida County Sheriff's officials say the search for a missing person came to a sad end Sunday morning in Rome.

Sheriff's officials say the vehicle of the missing person was located around 10:00 Sunday morning parked along South James St..

Officials say the body of the missing person was then found a short time later nearby in the Mohawk River just off of the intersection of South James St. and Muck Rd..

The area was shut down for quite a while and the scene was treated as a crime scene, but late Sunday afternoon Oneida County Sheriff's officials released a statement saying they will not be releasing the victim's identity as they are now investigating this case as a suicide.
