MARCY – A section of Cavanaugh Road in Marcy remains closed following a one-car crash in the early morning hours that took down two utility poles, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say around 3:30 a.m., 36-year-old Jason Ferguson of Yorkville was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck on Cavanaugh Road when the truck left the road and collided with a utility pole, causing it to snap in half. The impact of the crash then caused the tension on the lines to snap another pole, leaving both of the poles blocking the road.
Cavanaugh Road is currently closed between Hayes Road and Kennedy Road.
Crews from National Grid, Verizon and Spectrum responded to the scene to repair the damage and they’re currently working on clearing the poles from the road.
Deputies say Ferguson was treated at the scene and then transported to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center by Kunkel Ambulance with minor injuries. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated.
Deputies say the accident is under investigation and more charges could be pending.
