UPDATE: Power was restored Monday night in Marcy and Cavanaugh Road has been reopened following the one-car crash into a utility pole.
MARCY – A man was taken to a local hospital Monday afternoon after his truck struck a utility pole in Marcy, causing a power outage, and a section of Cavanaugh Road is now closed.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Cavanaugh Road near the intersection with Kennedy Road. Cavanaugh Road is currently closed between Kennedy Road and Conductor Drive, and it’s expected to remain closed until 1 a.m.
Approximately 305 National Grid customers are without power in Marcy this afternoon, according to the National Grid Power Outage Map. The estimated restoration time is 6 p.m.
The Maynard Fire Department and National Grid responded to the scene this afternoon. There is no word yet regarding the extent of the driver’s injuries.
While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, officials say that slippery road conditions could have played a role in the crash.
