FLY CREEK N.Y.- Numerous Fire Departments in Otsego County volunteered to hand out face coverings and hand sanitizer to the general public Wednesday.
NEWSChannel 2 stopped by the Fly Creek Fire Department to find the doors open to anyone who stopped by.
Fire Departments including Cooperstown, Edmeston, Fly Creek, Garrattsville, Middlefield, Morris, Mount Vision, Pittsfield, Schenevus, Unadilla Forks, Wells Bridge, West Edmeston, West Exeter, Westford, West Laurens, West Oneonta, and Worcester were asked by Otsego County to issue masks and hand sanitizer.
Christopher Voulo, the Fly Creek Fire Chief says it is important to keep people safe.
"This way people can do their social distancing while wearing masks and protecting themselves, their family, and their relatives." said Voulo. "It's a good thing that Otsego County, the County Coordinators put on this program so we could keep people safe."
Voulo said the most important message is to wear masks, stay in as much as possible. social distance, and hang in there until the coronavirus pandemic is all over, and be safe.
