SYRACUSE – Democratic U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Monday joined elected leaders, business owners and families regarding Trump’s tax plan’s impact on New York’s working families.
The event in Syracuse was part of a state-wide tour that calls out the legislation as being a boost for millionaires and billionaires. Schumer calls the fallout from the tax plan devastating, with millions of Americans seeing a 10 percent increase in their healthcare.
Schumer also says it has a tremendous impact across New York State.
"Our friends on the other side of the aisle, the Republicans in the Senate and the House, jammed through a massive tax cut for the biggest corporations and the very wealthy in Decembe,” Schumer said. “They didn't ask and didn’t get a single Democratic vote, they didn’t sit down and try to compromise, they just rushed it through. Why? They were ashamed of it, because so much of the benefit goes to the wealthiest and most powerful corporations and to the wealthiest individuals."
Schumer’s stop in Syracuse is part of a 100-day tour with stops all across the country.
