NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- Good news for movie-goers on the autism spectrum – Marquee Cinemas is starting sensory screenings.
The select family shows will foster a completely different movie screening environment, for patrons who are dealing with sensory issues.
The assistant manager says they've had a growing demand for such screenings, and are more than happy to be able to accommodate those cinema-goers.
"And that's going to feature open captioning, lower sound, and the lights will be turned up and people will be able to move around more,” said Luke Toukatly, the assistant manager.
The sensory screenings begin March 9, with the new, ‘How to Train Your Dragon" movie.
The screenings take place the second Saturday of every month, for a trial period.
