VERNON, N.Y. (UPDATED) – A Rome man was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital following a one-car crash in Vernon early Thursday morning.
New York State Police say 24-year-old Ryan M. Cobey was driving north on Route 26 when he crossed into the other lane and drove off the road before hitting a tree around 5:30 a.m.
Cobey was airlifted to the hospital via Mercy Flight to be treated for injuried police say are not life-threatening.
The accident happened between Route 5 and Route 31, near Youngs Road.
Police and fire officials responded to the scene.
Lanes were blocked in both directions directly after the crash, but have since reopened.
