DURHAMVILLE, N.Y. -- Because of coronavirus, many people are making their vacation plans closer to home and buying boats and jet skis. But if you are in the market to buy one, there might not be many available right now.
The owner of Motodug, Doug Weaver, says several new dealers around Durhamville heave nearly no product right now.
"Yeah, I mean boat dealers, there's no product on the lots," said Weaver. "And I think if you order, most places that I talked to, if you order something now, you're not going to see it til next year."
Motodug has had a hard time finding boats and jet skis right now too. Weaver says, "Very, very difficult, and you know we've bought stuff that we've paid more than I would normally pay, like what I normally sell stuff for, just so that we have something."
And it's not just boats that are hard to find, it's also the parts to them.
"So, what would normally take me 15 minutes to go through and order all of the parts," he said. "I have a machine that we're putting together now that it took me, literally took me 8 hours to put the list of parts together and have where they're coming from. I mean because you can't buy everything from one place right now."
And because of this mass shortage of boats and jet skis, Weaver has some good advice to pass along.
"This year, if you find something that you like and it looks good, buy it," he said. "Don't wait, don't wait to try to find one for 100 dollars less because just as fast as they're listed they're selling this year."
