UTICA, N.Y. (UPDATED) – After a day-long investigation, Utica Police made an arrest after shots were fired in the city's Cornhill area.
Police were heavily armed when they arrived on the 100 block of Gold Street around 12 p.m. on Monday, and escorted several individuals out of the home in handcuffs.
According to Utica Police, 24-year-old Daquan Murdock, of Utica, was arrested after they spent time questioning a number of individuals who were at the scene during the time of the shots-fired call. Utica Police found a number of spent 9mm shell casings. After shots were fired, Murdock was believed to have returned back inside the home with the handgun.
After interviewing several witnesses, Utica Police obtained a search warrant and returned to the home where they found narcotics and two loaded 9mm handguns inside the home.
Murdock is facing charges of second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
More charges are likely as the investigation continues.
