ROME, N.Y. -- Site prep has begun to demolish the Rome parking garage on the corner of West Liberty and North George streets.
Crews had part of the area closed off Wednesday, getting ready for the demolition that is a part of the city's downtown revitalization initiative.
The space will become a temporary parking lot and should be completed by June 30.
The $1 million contract is with Bronze Contracting out of Remsen.
In the future, the city plans to create an apartment building there.
