ONEONTA- The Oneonta Common Council got a special showing of the documentary "A Slice of Hope" that was filmed at a local pizza shop in Oneonta.
The documentary is about the local business, Sal's Pizzeria, giving a second chance to those struggling with drug addiction.
Jennifer Grigoli gave recovering addicts a chance at impoving their lives through recovery friendly employment.
"Honestly the idea just came after a few sleepless nights kind of wondering how we can make our business better not only just for us but how can we give back to the community," said Grigoli.
She says a lot of people really deserve it, and she believes in second chances. "We just hope that the more that we can bring people into our pizzeria and give them the opportunity, that hopefully more businesses will see that this is a wonderful project it’s a positive positive thing."
The documentary received a "Hope Documentary Award" in Manhatten and New Jersey.
It's also nominated for an award at a recovery film festival in Florida next month.
