As the region faces the first significant winter storm of the season, many areas have declared snow emergencies, with schools and businesses closing throughout Oneida, Herkimer and Otsego counties.
The following is a list of current snow emergency declarations, where residents are advised to limit travel as crews work on clearing roadways of several inches of snow accumulated overnight:

- Cooperstown
- Herkimer
- Ilion
- Lewis County
- Milford
- New Hartford
- Oneida County
- Poland
- Richfield Springs (parking restrictions)
- Utica
- Whitesboro
- Yorkville
