UTICA, N.Y. – The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority is accepting live Christmas trees for composting at their Rome and Utica EcoDrop locations.
All ornaments, tinsel and other decorations must be removed from the trees before taking them to the sites.
EcoDrop Utica is located at 80 Leland Ave. Extension, and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Utica residents can also leave live trees by the curb through Jan. 31 to be retrieved on scheduled green waste collection days.
The Rome EcoDrop is at 575 Perimeter Road and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Authority will not accept wreaths of any kind or artificial trees because they cannot be composted properly.
