Before New York State set a curfew for gyms last fall, Elite Fitness Center LLC in Herkimer had just opened. The manager of Elite Fitness Center LLC in Herkimer, Shirley Randazzo tells us what the owner did "James Tangorra saw a need for a 24/7 facility in this area so when he opened last August, we were open 24/7." But they weren't open long before they had to restrict their hours. Mrs. Randazzo said "It can be really stressful trying to find time in the day to get to the gym when they have certain hours."
The good news is that starting today, the curfew has been lifted and gyms can now be open 24/7. Mrs. Randazzo said "The members are so excited for us to be open 24/7. I've always said to them when they come in for a membership that it's such an advantage to be apart of a facility that's open 24/7 because you can workout on your time."
And now that the weather is getting nicer, especially this week, gyms are holding group classes outside! Mrs. Randazzo said "We do offer group fitness classes. We like to have them running outside so that people can really spread out and with the fresh air people tend to really enjoy that."
Elite Fitness is thinking outside the box when it comes to coronavirus safety, which is why they are building an outdoor gym! Mrs. Randazzo said "It's going to be a fully functional outdoor gym. The whole back is going to be turfed. We're going to have equipment out there, tire flips, battle ropes, we have volley ball courts out back." They are hoping to open the outdoor gym at the end of May to early June.
