UTICA, N.Y. – Mohawk Valley Health System's St. Luke's campus is now one of just seven in upstate New York to receive certification as a comprehensive stroke center from DNV Healthcare USA Inc.
To get the certification, certain standards must be met for diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education. These centers are usually the largest and can best handle the treatment of any kind of stroke.
“With stroke care, you must have the best clinicians and resources, but also the ability to act organizationally with extreme efficiency because of the time-critical nature of these events,” said Dr. Varun V. Reddy, director of MVHS Stroke and Neuroendovascular Surgery. “This certification from DNV validates all the effort we have put into this program to ensure the health and safety of our patients.”
MVHS is the only comprehensive stroke center between Syracuse and Albany.
