UTICA – The 2018 St. Patrick’s Day Parade is underway in the city of Utica!

Each year, hundreds of people turn out on Genesee Street to march in and watch the annual parade. Last year subzero temperatures caused the parade to be postponed, and although it’s still cold and windy today, that isn’t stopping the local community from turning out in their best green attire to show their Irish pride – even if they’re only “Irish” on St. Patrick’s Day!

This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is Judy Weeks, who began working with the Great American Irish Festival in 2004 and directed it for five years. She has also directed the St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the last eight years.

As Weeks made her way past the judge’s stand on Genesee Street in her limo, the Irish National Anthem was sung in Gaelic by Rose Butler, followed by The Star-Spangled Banner.

Dozens of fire and police departments, businesses and organizations will continue to make their way along the parade route on Genesee Street. You can watch parade coverage on WKTV NBC until 12 p.m., or tune into WKTV.com/livestream. The parade coverage will air again at 12 p.m. Sunday.

If you're at the parade today, we'd love to see your photos! Post them to social media using the hashtag #WKTVGreen and we'll add them to our online gallery.
