UPDATE 4:00 P.M.
State Police are now investigating a homicide after a man was shot at the Red Carpet Inn in Rome.
Police said the male victim died later at a local hospital.
They tell NEWSChannel 2 the victim was born in 1992 and had been staying at the Red Carpet Inn since October. Police are looking for two suspects who drove off in a black Nissan Rogue. They believe the victim and the suspects knew each other.
Police said they found multiple shell casings at the hotel, and other rooms were occupied when the incident happened. Police said the victim was shot and then hid in an office at the hotel.
They say there is no danger to the public.
UPDATE 1:40 P.M.:
State Police say they responded to Red Carpet Inn for report of shots fired.
A victim was located inside the hotel with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and face and was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital.
The extent of injuries is unknown.
State Police Troop D Spokesperson Jack Keller said the suspect is still believed to be in the area and the area is blocked off.
Rome, N.Y. - Rome Police, State Police and Oneida County Sheriff's deputies, including a SWAT team, are at the scene of an apparent shooting inside the Red Carpet Inn in Rome on Lawrence Street.
No word on the victim's condition.
It is unclear if the suspect is still on scene.
